We again remind you that our new website is now finally up and running. It’s a VERY large website to say the least, but it shows all of our Member Clubs, our many multi-day dance events, our numerous Supporting Members that includes Dance Instructors and Deejays. We’ve also included multiple videos showing many of our various dance styles and important up-to-date copyrighted music information.
On our Home Page, you’ll find that we’ve even included a new “jukebox” feature where you can surf our site while enjoying lots of FastDance music that reflects many of our dance styles including Bop, Shag, Swing, Lindy, Country & Ballroom. We’ve even thrown in some of your favorite Line Dance and Disco music. Since sending out our 4th quarter 2022 newsletter, we have added another 20 songs to our jukebox. It won’t even cost you a quarter. So again, ENJOY!!

Many of our affiliated Clubs, Events, Instructors & Deejays hit the ground running with their dance/music activities beginning the first of the year. We encourage all of our affiliates to complete the forms we sent out late last year and return them to us asap so that you can receive our Confirmation certificates. We realize it can be difficult to estimate how many attendees you will have for all of 2023, but just do the best you can. We can always reconfigure the numbers at a later date. If you have attendee credit transferred from 2022 you can adjust your 2023 number of attendees accordingly. Our PayPal account has become a little more reliable lately. All signs point to 2023 being a banner year for our National FastDance community. It’s about time that we all get back to some serious dancing!!
Stay up to date on new events and clubs, share virtual classes, or just hang out with us on our Facebook group 😎

WHAT WOULD WE HAVE DONE WITHOUT THE 50’S & THE SAX?
| |
Looking back now, growing up in the 40’s & 50’s was a very, very unique & wonderful experience. The youngsters nowadays, those in their 30’s and 40’s, have no idea what they missed. No cell phones, no computers, very few TV’s. There were few, if any, High School dropouts. It was definitely a different time. Good grief, how did we survive?
Friday & Saturdays nights at the drive-in movies, Sunday afternoons after Church cruising Main St. in my ’53 Mercury with a carload of my buddies. Cruising through Bailey’s, Al’s, Ebb’s and the Crystal drive in’s where the waitresses came out on roller skates to take and then bring out our orders. Usually two Crystal burgers, a small order of fries, and a small Coke for about 37 cents. Up north, it was the White Castle.
In the early to mid-fifties, we experienced the transition from the 30’s and 40’s big band era of our parents to the brand- new rock & roll era. Virtually gone were Jimmy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney (George’s aunt), Patti Page, The Mills Brothers, and many other great musical artists.
In came Bill Haley & the Comets, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Richie Valens, Elvis and of course, Buddy Holly. While cruising, we still heard a smattering of the 40’s style of music on the car radio but soon pure rock & roll took over.
On Friday night, if we weren’t at the drive-in movies or cruising, we were at the Sock Hop in the High School gym Bopping, Handdancing or Fastdancing to rock & roll played by the deejays on their latest 45’s.
Nearly every song had the music instrument-of-choice, the Saxophone. Nearly every great rock & roll song had to have the Sax. The music just would not have been the same without it. On our website jukebox, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band express the sentiment and nostalgia of the kids who were fortunate to have grown up in the 50’s.
